Hate to tell you this, but went to Walmart yesterday and they have added a whole bunch of new fabric. Rather than getting rid of the fabric department, our store is adding fabric. I've overhead several different ladies saying they are there from other communities since their store has closed down the fabric department. Hope the addition of fabric or bringing back fabric will happen in the stores near you.

Local Wal-Mart has fabric, the other Wal-Marts in the area have done away with fabric.

My Walmart is making it's fabric dept, smaller, but we get to keep it. Bonus, I've been picking up some great deals on the fabric they don't have room for.

Word is corporate is bringing back the fabric department.

To me the Pellon products and Warm and Natural batting that is sold at Walmart saves me more money then buying the fabric. The fusibles, Insulbrite, batting, muslin bolts are the first items I go to when I find a Walmart that has the fabric dept. I found a wash away stabalizer for about $1 a yard it works the same as the Solvy. Also the fusible fleece and cotton canvas, ticking, and other basics that you pay double or triple the price elsewhere if you can find it.

Our WM still has a full fabric department...for now. Last year we were told they were closing this month. They downsized, then started getting more fabrics again. Two weeks ago, the lady cutting fabric said they were going to keep the fabric department and just had some fabrics marked down to make room for new fabrics. Then a couple days ago, another employee said they are keeping the fabric department, but they are going to the precuts.

I'm taking advantage of the sales while they are having them.

Our local Walmart closed the fabric dept but it does have some prepackaged fabrics and a little bit of sewing notions. Sure wish they would bring our fabric dept back. Joann's also closed. Hobby Lobby says that their fabric dept has gotten quite a bit busier because of the other closings. I'm happy for you that your Walmart has kept the fabric dept.
