I was told yesterday that the fabric dept will not close at my local walmart..I live in north Louisiana....Yea......

I have to admit - I love the Walmart fabric latley. The material they get for the pattern of the month is 4.44 or so and is very nice. It's to the point now I might go there even before Joannes.

I have heard they are making my walmart into a Super Walmart. That is exciting - and up until now I have not heard anything about them getting rid of the fabric.

Fingers crossed! :)

Good for you. Ours didn't close but shrunk down to next to nothing. I use to go pick up my whole shopping list there from toys, home furnishings, food and crafts but now I can't even get half of my list so I will not put myself thru the hazzards of parking, long lines and still have to stop somewhere else. No more Walmart for me.

Not ours.

We no longer shop at Walmart either. Especially since they are taking out all the name brands of grocery items and everything else in their store and replacing them with their Great Value Brand. I DONT WANT Great Value Mayonaisse I want Best Foods. I want Nalley's Chili not Great Value chili...they blew it, they are biting off their own nose. In my opinion they are forcing us to make us buy their products. And that isn't happening in my house. Sorry, I'm done ranting now. :)

wolph33 01-02-2011 10:44 AM

most of ours are gone-3 out of 4 within an hour away have no fabric any more

I hate Walmart and there lack of choices is not helping. I would rather go to the dentist then to Walmat!

I keep asking at my local Walmart but the gal who cuts the fabric said they won't know until about May when they start the remodeling of that store if Walmart will keep the fabric department. I guess I will start to barrage them with requests to keep their fabric dept. I have found some great deals on some quality fabrics.

Last October they finished up a new Walmart Supercenter here and closed the regular one. The regular one had gotten rid of the fabric a few months before that and the new one didn't have any from the start. There is a walmart about 35 min away that carries fabric but I rarely go that way.

I guess we have to accept that even with Walmart being the largest employer in the states, they are not interested in being a part of the community or customer service. They calculate how much profit is made out of every square foot of each store. It is what it is - a for-profit business. I have gotten over being frustrated with them, and just accept that's what they have to offer.

Our regular grocery store did that. They took out a bunch of national brands and put in their generic. My dd has food allergies so we can't use most generics (it so happens that great value is one that labels well but this wasn't at a walmart) so I had to quit shopping there. I only go for certain things now.
