There's at least 2 companies that make fabric with a backing that can be put thru an ink jet printer for photos on fabric. They are colorfast & can be gently washed. I did an Americana quilt & incorporated my father from WWII & grandfather from WWI in their army uniforms plus some other pertinent pictures. If you can get photos from the family, scan them into your computer & go from there. It would be so much easier than all those leaves. You might even be able to get them printed at Kinkos or some other professional printers. The fabric comes in 8 1/2 by 11 sheets.

The products are: Printed Treasures by Milliken and Sew-in Colorfast Fabric Sheets by June Tailor. They can be found at JoAnn's or quilt shops. I haven't looked for them at Hobby Lobby or other fabric shops yet. You can print in color, b&w or sepia depending on what works best with the fabrics in the quilt. You could use narrow strips of fabric to join then pictures based on family relationships.

My mother did a Hand Quilt where each of us drew a copy of our hand, then she appliqued them in whatever our favorite color is onto a black background. For the two deceased girls, she made angels. I've also seen one with names on the leaves of a tree. Any deceased family members had their leaves on the ground.

I've seen a really cute quilt designed by Lori Holt of Bees In My Bonnet that is titled "Family Reunion". It has a tree in the middle with lots of neat reunion-type articles around it.

A 'coin' style quilt, with a wider center 'trunk', odd branches of trunk color on either side of it, horizontally. Hanging from the branches, blossoms of names and scattered leaves? Use any part of this, I won't remember I wrote it unless I read it again. Then, I would be flattered. No QP here.

I saw a very large tree with lots of branches and leaves. The names were on tags and the womens' names were on pink tags and the men's names on blue ones. I think the birth and death dates were on each tag. This was a long time ago and there were lots of small tags on the tree. The tree was either appliques or drawn.
