Fan Pattern
Looking for Fan Pattern in 12" block.
Thank You |
Here's one:
http://www.quilterscache.com/G/Grand...sFanBlock.html Much like the lace used on this one, I used what I call the Eleanor Burns method of using 1/2" rickrack on the curved edges. I'll have to look a bit for a link to the video I used. found it in time: And I will use what I am calling the Eleanor Burns method of using 1/2" rickrack for the curves, both for the fan blades and the pies. On the top side of the fabric you sew rickrack along your 1/4" seam allowance, I chose basic white. The rickrack is already bias and so you use it to help turn the curves. Then you stitch it down to the foundation block, first the fan blades, and then the pie piece. The rickrack will then add a textural element. Clear as mud, eh? LOL here's link to a video by Eleanor, the rickrack part starts around 18 minutes in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ktzb2wMMwzc |
There are different fan patterns. Quilters Cache is a good site to see which one you want.

I made a fan quilt last summer. If this is what you are looking for let me know and I'll give directions for how I did it.

For the fan quilt I made, I wanted a 10" block and I wanted a ruler or template because each of the blades was going to be unique. I went with the John Flynn Templates here, I don't there there is a 12" option, but I was really pleased at having those nice sturdy acrylic templates to use.

Glad you have figured it out on how to get a 12" block. IceBlossom-love your fan blocks and really like how you put your turkey down in the corner-so cute. Especially like your sashing fabric.

Rff1010 I love the scrappy look of your quilt and the quilting is beautiful. Did you do the quilting yourself?
