If you don't know FART stands for fabric acquisition road trip.
Today Melinda from Tulsa my fellow member of this QB and I took off early this morning and visited 3 out of town quilt shops. We drove through beautiful farm land and arrived at The red barn quilt shop at Barnsdall Oklahoma around 10:00 am. It was a beautiful shop with lovely accomdations for retreats in the middle of the countryside next to a lake. BEAUTIFUL SETTING!!! We spent money and off we went to the next shop in Pawhaska. Another shop with a lovely woman named Wanda running it. Wanda has a longarm business and we watched her do some lovely work while we were there. We spent money! Then off to the 3rd stop in Sand springs, OK called the best little quilt shop. I got my best deal here. We spent money.......:-) Are you getting a theme here...LOL We rounded out with a trip to our local JoAnns and then ate dinner out and then we finally made it home and we exhausted and thrilled with our trip. We never got lost thanks to Melinda's GPS and didn't spend to much money. We had a GREAT time! I hope to meet more of the oklahoma quilting group from this board. Melinda and I are best sewing buddies now and quilt together each week. What a blessing this board has been for me. It helped me meet Melinda. :-) Below is a picture of Melinda and I. I am the one wearing the flowery top. The other picture is what I bought. There is another panel of pheasants under the duck panel. |
Sounds like a great outing, and some pretty purchases.

What a wonderful day you had. It's good for the soul to have a day just fartin' around. Looks like you had a great time.

I love the road trips, when i go visit my sister in Western Australia she takes me to places there. I love the "FART" name also. should of figured it wasn't to do with bodily functions other than departing with money from the hand. LOL. I have another "PHD" you probably already know this one, Projects Half Done. Have a great Day. :)

well, wouldn't the word trip be redundant then? ;-)
|
Yes trip is redundant but I was afraid to just put FART in the title!!!! :-)

What fun! I love doing stuff like that with a friend who also quilts. We call it "road trip" though.

We have great quilt shops in OKC! The one in Guthrie is wonderful and I know good eating places. Plan a trip south and I will meet you. On Tues we have quilting at our church and lunch in or out. Have 20-24 and would love visitors. We are in far NW OKC. Pm me sometime.

What a great day! Nice fabric, too!
|
Looks like the makings of a Fall project there - pinecones (I have some of that), and other rusty/ orange fabrics!
Isn't it great when you can make new friends and be able to do things together you both enjoy. |
Oh we had such a great day yesterday! I tell ya, finding a quilting friend who lives close by is a god send for me. And even better, not only do Jeanne and I have a love of sewing and quilting in common, most everything else in common too. It's almost spooky! She is like the sister I never had. And to think, we met here on QB!
The internet can be a wonderful place. Thank you Quilting Board. |
