Fat Eighths... what do I do with them?
I searched the board, but didn't find much... so thought I would ask...
I bought a few "chicklets" from a LQS, they are bundles of 4 fat eighths. I don't know what to do with them! They were cute and coordinated, and I thought that maybe one day I would find some awesome little project that would be just perfect for them... but, nope. I also won a little bundle of fat eighths that are super adorable florals, don't know what to do with those either. So, I ask of you... what do you use your fat eights for? Do you know of any patterns? Small projects? Sites with good suggestions? |
Not sure the size of a "fat eighth' but maybe a mug rug?

Here are some ideas:)

Fat eights are half of a fat quarter: 9"x 21". I bought a bundle of fat eights at JAF and still trying to figure out the best way to use them!

Small pieces are good for applique. you don't need a lot of yardage to make a dozen flowers or leaves or whatnot.
|
They could be cut into strips and used in string quilt blocks or wonky log cabin blocks. Also a scrappy hourglass block quilt with a co-ordinating solid to fill in.
|
A Tiddley winks quilt would be cute.
|
I do a lot of paperpiecing, my favorite being 4" mini blocks. Fat 1/8ths are perfect for those.
|
right now i'm making NICU quilts for Annaquilts. fat eights would be perfect for those.
|
They are great for scrappy quilts!
