Favorite brand invisible thread?
What is your favorite brand of invisible thread? I only know of Sulky and YLI. Both seem plastic like to me. Is there something better?
|
YLI is good and Harriet Hargrave has a version that is soft and pliable as well.
|
YLI nylon monofilament is my favorite for invisible machine applique because it shows the least. I have tried some of the newer polyester invisible threads, but they all are more visible than my old YLI.
The only truly invisible threads are either nylon or polyester. No matter which brand, they will have a similar feel to the Sulky and YLI you have already tried. |
Thanks for the help!

I have a spool of Madeira that is very nice. When I asked at the Bernina dealer for the darker shade they recommended Mono Poly by Superior. That is also very nice. Both are very fine threads.

Two years ago, I took a few classes with Edyta Sitar and she recommended using the one made by Aurifil - Aurifil is one of her sponsors and she uses it for all of her applique quilts. I tried it with my Bernina and I really liked it. I've used both the clear and smoke. I use it as the top thread and use a coordinating cotton/poly thread in the bobbin.

I like MonoPoly by Superior threads :)

I agree with woody. I have tried several different brands and MonoPoly is the best for me.

I have used it but not for am entire quilt...do you use it for stitch in the ditch or aeons applique ...

Harriet Hargraves is the best in my opinion, you can get it from her web site. Clear and smoke color.
