I love the French Braid quilts. And, Jenny Doan just introduced a quilt she calls Stacks - although I did one very similar several years ago using a different construction method.

Yes, Jenny Doan has a tut on Stacks today. I'm thinking I might like to try this one.

I ended up going with one on MSQC from the 3Dudes quilting. Never have done anything with half square triangles. This could be an adventure :)

I am such a visual learner and I am trying to figure out how you iron the strip open when it is sewed on top of the prior strip right sides together. Can you help me understand that concept? I make lots of quilt as you go pot holders like this and would really like to do a quilt but not sure how to do the ironing of it. Wondering if you mean to iron the individual 9 1/2 inch strip seams open. Thank you so much for posting this and I am going to try one with some of my 2 1/2" strips in my stash.

Eleanor Burns has a wonderful Braid in a Day pattern for jelly rolls. (There is no way I could make it in a day, but it is still beautiful.) Several of my friends made it with batik strips.

I'm fickle, but my current favorite jelly roll pattern is "Ocean Deep" from the book New Ways With Jelly Rolls. Here's a half-block wall hanging I'm working on to test the design.
