Favorite tutorial for using backing fabric as binding
 

Hi,

I am finishing my daughter's baby clothes t-shirt quilt and want to bring the minky backing around to bind it, but I'd like to hear input on how to do it and make it look nice. I am mostly concerned about the corners. Is there a good tutorial for bringing backing to the front to make the binding?

I tried that with a baby quilt. I botched it horribly. The stuff stretches so much and wiggles around in such a wild manner. It is pretty difficult to make it even. Now, having said that, I am sure someone here will tell you a simple elegant way to make it work!

I made a full minky quilt and brought the backing over and made binding. It looks pretty good. Not super super precise but that's ok. I just wasn't too thrilled with my corners and thought maybe someone has a good method....

I've used the ludlow tute and it went well....

Use the Creative Grids Quick Trim Ruler. Trim the backing 2" larger than the front. Place the ruler with the 90 degree line on the front section in the corner and trim. Repeat for the other 3 corners. Press each side under 1/2". Now match each individual corner up and stitch (that is your 1/4" stitch line). You will now have 4 perfect mitered corners. Top-stitch at the edge of your 'binding' and you are done.
