First of all, I've never been interested in Featherweights. I've seen all you posting excited topics about getting a Featherweight and wondered what all the excitement was about.

Then last week, Jim came home all excited and said, "Come see what I got!" He took this little black box into the kitchen and put it on the counter. I watched as he slowly pulled a little black sewing machine out of the box.

Having seen some of your earlier posts, I knew exactly what it was. I said, "Hey, that's a Featherweight!"

Jim said, "No, it's not. It's really heavy."

I about died laughing.

Darlene 05-25-2011 03:15 AM

I thought FW's were lightweight, not heavy.

If it's a featherweight it shouldn't weigh over 15 lbs (normally not even that) but it could be the same size just heavier. i have 128 that is the same size as a featherweight but it is heavy. it still as cute as can be. i have 2 now and want on for each of my 6 grandkids. of course my 5 year old grandson wants a yellow one; I told him that might be hard to do but I'd try. enjoy your machine.

that's cute! I have a small black machine (a 127) that's about the size of a featherweight, but it's like 30-35 pounds. :D

Do you have a picture???

I wouldn't mind having one even if it didn't work. It would make a nice conversation piece. One time we went to a gift shop in Sequim and I can't recall the name of it, but they sell lavender and there in the garden sat this old machine and I just shook my head as the poor machine was sooo rusted and no way would that machine ever be able to work after being in the weather and all. It looked a well loved machine at one time, but maybe it conked out and the peoople there wanted to use it as a garden ornament. It wasn't a feather weight, it was one that once sat in a cabinet. Have a great day oh the riddle was so cute. Enjoy, Huggies, Fay
