Does anyone know what a Featherweight machine costs? I have someone selling one but I don't have any idea what they go for. Please help.

They really vary. Anywhere from garage sales finds of 50.00 all the way up to collectors asking 650.00. If it is in good shape and has all the attachments and the box I personally would go as high as 250.00. (That's what I paid for my white one.) Just depends on how bad you want one and how good a negotiator you are!! :-D :-D Check ebay for some examples.

They really do vary... the different years, how has it been maintained ? Good Luck

I paid a little over $200 for mine but it was also my highschool English and French teacher's. So it's not only a Featherwieght but one with a personal connection for me. Even though I now own and treasure Mrs. Brown's Featherweight, if I ever find another one less than $100 or even several I'll buy them. My rule of thumb is that if they run and are less than $250 it's a fairly good deal, if they're less than $200 it's a good deal and less than $100 it's a great deal.

I paid $280 for mine in April and it's well worth it. Not a bit sorry. It's a 1938 model and I'm a 1937 model.

Thanks for all the feed back. The amount someone was asking was $375.00, I for one thought it was a little too much.

look at the maching and also see how well it sew. Is it clean or dirty. I paid 150 for mine.

Here's one off of craigslist from Today
http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/atq/1935580786.html If you are interested they are asking $175.00 for it but I think offering less would be the case. It has been well used in my opinion. Hope this helps. |
Thanks for the heads up, I will check it out.

Since it has damage to it (about the size of a nickle) I wouldn't offer more than maybe 125.00. It sounds like a guy selling it cuz women don't usually say outfit when refering to a sewing machine. lol
Let me know if you get it? |
Thanks. I live in Grants Pass and it is quite a way up there for me, but I will keep you posted. Thanks again.

Your welcome Joan, I like to surf craigslist and I have seen a few on there. If you want I can PM any I see over here to you. If you find one, that would also give you a reason to come on over and see us folks on the wetter side of the state ;-)
I laughed hard at the gal that was asking $700.00 for one of the aqua FW's about a week or so ago. Sorry but if you buy that you have more money than sense. They aren't even that old as I understand it. I wouldn't buy one just to look at either. That would be a shame. Just my opinion. Faith PS so what is the Feedback number under our Avatars about? |

smitty, owner of 2 blacks, fuschia, tan, red S featherweights. love 'em ! |
I am lucky enough to have the one my mom got for a wedding gift. It is the machine I learned to sew on and made my wedding dress with. I still use it often to piece quilt tops. I collect machines now and wouldn't mind having a couple of different models. Would pay up to $300 if in very good shape.

Would look good cleaned up with new fabric attached to the outside of the case. Hey there's an idea for cases that are not in outwardly good shape anymore. Let em stew, they have to remember that they are not the only machine on the planet. I'll keep looking. Have a great weekend, take care and be safe.. Faith :XD: |

Would you post a picture of your white one?
I've never seen one that color, and I'm thinking about how I want refinished an old machine I have "inherited." Thanks!
