I have found several machines for sale on ebay,etc...would a fair price for a "good working" machine from the 50's be around $400? I really need input from experienced buyers...........thanks...somehow my posting omitted the word...featherweight. I am looking for a black one with intact decals, good condition, working, and would love a fancy faceplate, should I expect accessories other than bobbins? Sorry I sound so needy, I am just really inexperienced at this.

That sounds expensive to me. Mine has some dings on it but it was only $135 and it's from the 50s. It came with the case, plus several feet and the buttonholer attachment.

The FW's from the 50s didn't come with the fancy scroll face plate.
If you find a 50s model with the scroll plate, it is not original to the machine.

I got my FW on ebay in 2005. It was in excellent condition, with several accessories.
Including: buttonholer, feet, original small oil can, original accessory box.
Although the handle on the case was in less that ideal condition. (no biggie to me)
I paid $167.00 with shipping.

I think you should be able to get a very nice machine around the $200 range.

I bought a centennial year FW this summer for $300 in excellent condition on ebay. Included case and attachments- all in great condition.

I got mine a couple of years ago, paid $300, BUT! I really wanted this particular machine, and the guy wouldn't budge on the price. It's in great shape, nothing but the machine, case, and bobbins.

My best advice would be to set your own budget, and look until you find something that fits within that. Prices have gone down quite a bit in the past year...

I got mine on ebay, about 6-8 months ago, for $238.00. I wouldnt pay $400 as there are too many out there for much less money. Happy hunting....

The most I ever paid for a Featherweight was 300 and it came with a good case, attachments, etc. It's a white FW too. I'm always checking prices on ebay and you can get one cheaper than 400.00
.

400 is way too high. Been following on eBay about six months. You should be able to get a really nice one around 300. There is one on there now from Canada that is gorgeous and is a 50's machine. Happy hunting. Also I would make sure it is returnable. All the top sellers accept returns.

What is a good price for a white 1964 Featherweight in a black case?
