Hi everyone,
I have a friend who would like to sell me her Featherweight Singer 222K that has been in her family for decades. She is not a sewer or a quilter so she has no idea what the value of it is. How much are these machines usually sold. It has the case and accessories but no manual. Thank you Paulette |
They go for a lot on Ebay- like almost 1000 bucks!!
She does not know what she has if it really is a Singer 222K
I see them on ebay for between $600 and $1100. They are pretty!!
I would guestimate it's worth between $750 and $1100, depending on the condition and which accessories and the condition of the case.
You might want to google Grahm Forsdyke's FW site. He's English and has a condition chart. And he sells machines, so I would maybe deduct 15 to 25% from his prices. |
I gave almost 1200 for mine over two years ago. It is like new and has just the faintest of scratches on the bed.
The manual is a free download at Singer. Other than the drop feed and free arm, it's the same as the 221. |
Wow!
Can you get the serial number to look it up and see for sure what the model is before you agree on a price? I'd hesitate on agreeing on the higher price and find out it's not the 222K model.
Wow, it sounds like quite a find- the 222's are very cute! That is a very good idea to get the serial number and look it up before you settle on a price...
The 222s have a free arm, the ability to drop the feed dogs, and (I think?) reverse. They were sold mostly in the UK and Europe, so they are less common and more expensive here. I'd love one, but for $1000+, I'd pass.
