Look all over, sometimes on front at bottom. Sometimes on bottom. usually states what the number is.

Look for 2 letters and a number on the bottom of the machine.

Enjoy your FW. I love to take it with me whenever we travel. I also like how easy it is to adjust the stitch length when I want to do a row of top stitching.

Allie, lucky you! I wish I had my old Featherweight back again. I bought mine many years ago, took it with me to college. Later on I traded it in on a Pfaff. It would be great for piecing quilts now.

Allie, you are so fortunate to have Clara. I know you will love her. My daughter gave me a featherweight a year ago. She gave it to me to take to quilting classes; but I find myself using it every day for piecing. I love that machine!

I have 2 but I don't use them much. Any time I sew 2 layers together the bottom one slips and they end up not matching. I tried a walking foot on one of them, it didn't help. I can use them for things not quilting related. They're cute though.

The serial number may be on the bottom of the machine, under the removable bottom, or under the extension near the bobbin case. It will be stamped on a piece of metal which is attached to the body of the machine. You can look it up here: http://www.ismacs.net/singer_sewing_...-database.html

qwkslver, that sounds like a problem with the feed dogs. There is a FW Yahoo! group with a lot of knowledgeable people who might be able to tell you how to fix the problem.

Taking mine on a camping trip tomorrow. Love how portable it is. Use mine for piecing. Love her wonderful stitch. Enjoy.
