Hi, I bought a bunch of feed sack fabric charms.
Not that it matters much, but how can I tell if they are reproductions vs actual feed sack material? Any tips? Oh, let me grab a photo for you all. They are so adorable! I'm thinking of doing a cathedral with them. I'm just wondering about the fabric dating - not that it will matter at all. I'll love them the same. Let me go grab a pic of them for you all. :-) Feed Sack Charms |
Can't wait to see them :)

Original feed sacks are thick...the repro feels like the cotton fabrics we have today..
|
The feed sacks should be thicker than regular fabric, and you can see the "grain" of the fabric more, if that makes sense.
|
If you see small stitching holes in the fabric edges--where
they were sewn with heavy thread (twine) they are authentic. These in the picture look real to me. |
They are great!

Oh I love the one with the kitchen stuff ! how cute. I was able to buy some last summer at a Garage Sale and the sweet lady that had saved them was there! so much fun. she was so concerned about where they were going. I promised her they would make it into a special quilt.:) they are not soft and you can feel the grain

I wouldn't have a clue...as far as I know we never had them in Aus. Just wanted to say, whatever they are...beautiful!
|
I think they are authentic! They are grainy and thick. Not soft, silky cotton like I'm used to...
Thanks everyone for your help! |
Love them!
