Feedback on Sapphire 835
 

I'm looking for feedback on the Sapphire 835. No thread cutter....how important would you rank that? Is it worth an additional $800?? Any comments on the 835 would be greatly appreciated.....looking at purchasing one within next few days. Thanks in advance!!

I love my Sapphire but don't remember the thread cutter adding an additional cost; it's built in. To be honest, I've never used it or the needle threader. It's a workhorse of a machine and sews over any thick seams. Personally, I'd just use my snips or scissors. Good luck on your purchase and have fun with whatever new machine you get.

I didn't explain that very well.....sorry. To upgrade to a machine that has a thread cutter would cost $800 more than the 835.

Ok, I get it now. Does the machine have lots of other features? I just never use the thread cutter--actuallly forgot it's there til I read your post and I've had mine for 3 years. I do love my Sapphire for all the other features.

I have had an 850 since 2008 and love love love it. I do all my own quilting on it. And yes it is a workhorse. The one feature I really like is the automatic presser foot. You don't have to lower it with your hand anymore. Just start sewing with the pedal and away it goes.

I have had an 830 for 2 years now and have made more than 50 bed sized quilts. It is used for piecing and I do all my own FMQ. I have a thread cutter on the side that I never use, and have no experience with auto thread cutters but this is one heck of a work horse of a machine - rarely a day goes by that I don't sew for at least 3-4 hours and up to 14 hours on weekends. I can't imagine a better sewing machine out there and I purchased mine 2nd hand (low hours on it) from a local dealer.

I love my Sapphire 830. No thread cutter but it is a great machine and has a 10 in throat.
My new cheap Brother embroidery machine has a thread cutter and I love it. Saves thread and dont have to worry about it unthreading when starting to sew. This machine is under $300 so a thread cutter is not an expensive thing to put into a machine.

I have an 875 that I've had for about 2 years. I purchased mine on Ebay. Two things I don't like about my machine are 1: when I sew, the bobbin thread jams when the top thread slips out of the "hook" at the top. It does it fairly regularly and is quite frustrating. The other is that because I purchased it online, I have no way of servicing it. My only way of doing this is to mail my machine to Husqvarna. Just an FYI in case you're looking online.

I have the 830 and love it! For what I do, it would not have been worth the $800 extra. I've read a lot of people think it cuts the thread too short.

If you do decide to purchase it, try to get some classes thrown in the deal. My dealer offers unlimited free classes at her shop. That was a big selling feature for me. She wants happy customers, and she gets them! It was a big change going to this machine as its very different from any other machine I have used before.

You also should see if they will throw the new walking foot in on the deal. It's got interchangeable feet. I also purchased the stitch in the ditch one, which is awesome! It snaps on the bottom of the walking foot.
