Can I use sewing feet made by singer with my Brother sewing machine? I have a VX-1120.
|
I'm not sure
|
It depend on your machine. I have a Bernina and Nothing works!! but I bought some adapter feet, and now I am in the game!
|
Probably not.
|
sometimes the snap on feet for low shanks will but sometimes they won't. I almost always take my machine when buying feet. I put them on and turn the hand wheel toward me slowly to see if the needle hits anything and that the feed dogs work with the foot
|
Babylock feet work fine with Singer, therefore, Brother should, too.
|
Some of the feet are universal, when I buy them online, I email the site and double check to see if they will fit my particular machine. Many are listed as "universal snap on feet" or "universal low shank" etc...
|
It really depends on the machine.
|
Feet generally come in two types. A full shank or a clip on type. Most Brothers have clip on's. If your singer is an older machine it may be a shank type, which like Pam said needs an adaptor.

The Creative Feet fit all sewing machines because of engineering.
IF you want to take feet from one machine to the next there are things to consider: 1) The snap on bar width 2) The foots opening and how it lines up with the sewing machine needle. Our adapters that are included with each foot make it so some machines that normally cannot share feet, can. Of course all of our feet will fit all sewing machines because of more than our shanks but you may be able to do what you're trying - just use the hand-wheel to see that the needle clears all sides of the opening in the foot before running the machine. |
I am betting the answer is No. Some of the manufactures have feet that are not even interchangble with in the company. Some models take different feet. I have three sisters we all have machines from the same manufacture ..... none of are walking feet will fit the others , same for free motion.
Mine has a clip at the bottom and unless I use the manufactues feet the needle will hit the foot by about a millimeter. I have learned the hard way not to believe when they say "fits all ....." It would be nice if they where , I've got big money in my feet ( no not shoes ha ha) , and the idea of buying a new machine and buying all new feet ...... keeps me from buying a new machine, |
I say no.

Only one way to find out! Give it a try.
Does it fit? If so, put it on and manually turn the wheel to make sure the needle doesn't hit the foot. If it is okay, sew a few stitches and see what you think. I use "universal" feet between several machines. Some work better than others on certain machines but they all fit. |
My singer feet do not fit on my brother machine. The singer is a slant shank and my brother is a short shank. It is a real shame they don't fit. I have a box of feet for my my moms old machine (i still have) and wish i could use them!
I did buy some snap on feet for a bernina that fit on my brother though.. interesting. Tracy |
If the feet that came with your Singer have a narrow snap on shank, you will not be able to interchange them. If it has a screw on and the shank is short.. about 3/4"long overall, then you probably can. However, a simple try out should show you. Does the fabric feed? Does the needle clear the opening?
Not much else to be concerned about :) |
