Felting for quits?

I am interested in Felting. I am thinking of buying a felting machine. Does anyone here use felting for their quilts? I was wondering if you could wash the quilts or do you just use felting for wall hangings and pillows? I would love to hear your thoughts regarding felting machines and quilting.

here is what I bought from Joanns - you can use your coupons, but I was only able to find this on line. I am very happy with the wool. http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/p...RODID=prd52712

If you own a Bernina, some of them can take a felting foot attachment. You also have to buy a different sole plate but if you already have the machine you might want to check it out. Sewing with Nancy just had a woman on doing needle felting and it looked fun. She also showed a hand felter that you punch into a brush? Very interesting. I don't know about using it on a quilt but she was doing wallhangings and pillows.

I bought some roving and just got in my clover needle felting tool and brush I am not going to purchase a machine since I will just use this for a few wall hangings. I watched a video on using cookie cutters to make the shapes. I can't wait to get started.

How do you wash a cotton and felt quilt?? Handwash or just don't wash it?
