Fiesta ware colors help with Kona colors.
Does anyone know what Kona fabrics are similar to the ever popular Fiesta ware dishes? I have a non-quilting g/f that I would like to make some placemats for.
Thanks for any help. |
I can't offer you any advice but I also have a friend who collects Fiesta ware. She displays it openly in her kitchen cabinets so I drool every time I visit. Never thought of making placemats to go with them but will certainly be watching for ideas with your quest. Thanks for opening the idea.

Do you want to use original Fiestaware colors or the newer ones? I just googled FW and there are a number of websites devoted to it. If you check some of them out it might give you better idea of what you'd like to do. You could print out some of the pictures and take them along when you go Kona shopping. Sounds like a fun project, good luck with it.

You might just want to grab a few paint color chips of bright Orange, Turquoise and other bright colors. Can you visit and give some excuse how to see her Fiesta Ware?? Maybe you could say a new friend is starting to collect?? Then with paint chips in hand, you can shop for Kona cotton. Beware, there are 330 Kona colors. I bought a Kona color card from Hancock of Pad for just under $20.

The original Fiesta ware colors were ivory (butter cream), cobalt, yellow, turquoise, a soft baby pea green and radioactive red which was actually an orangy red. I have an extensive collection of those original colors and would be happy to compare to a Kona color chart for you if those are the colors you want.

Good idea. I'll be following this thread. Actually, what you'll need to do is start collecting Fiestaware.

I love the idea of making placemats to go with your friend's Fiesta Ware. I thought I'd share what popped into my mind - black Kona cloth with piano keys along one side in the colors. That way the placemats will match whatever color of plate is used.
