Figuring Out Yardage

How would I figure out yardage for a queen size quilt using this pattern? There is no information that I can find that tells you what you need and I don't want to run out halfway through as the shop is about 2 hours away. Any ideas?

Thanks,

What size blocks? How many? Just the 3 fabrics like in the link? How many borders and what width are they? I can plug that info into EQ7 and get you a good approximation.

The page says 8” blocks & that fat quarters ‘should be plenty,’ but I’m unsure as to how many FQs. The page doesn’t have a lot of that type of info. But it makes a nice quilt. Maybe make 1 block with scraps
& measure how much was used, or cut out the templates & measure that way.

IceLeopard, if I did them as 8" blocks, so that would be 156 blocks, with just the three colours and an 10" border of the darkest colour, would you mind figuring that out?
Thanks!

Can't help but that is a beautiful quilt. Will look forward to seeing it. Sharon

Per EQ7.... With 8 inch blocks - 12 x 13 is a finished size of 98 x 106.
The fabric requirements are
background - 13 1/8 yd
Light blue - 4 5/8 yd
Dk blue - 4 1/2 yd

No borders were considered in this, but there is an allowance for a 1" binding.

I then added changed the layout to 10 x 11 blocks. A first 2" border of background. Then a 4 inch border of light blue, then a 6 inch border of the dark blue. Final size with a 1 inch binding is 103.5 x 111.5.

Background 9 1/2 yards
Light blue 4 3/8 yards
Dark Blue 5 3/8 yards

NOTE: I have never actually bought fabric based on EQ, but knowing all the details in the program, I would bet these numbers are fairly correct.

Edited to add: If you want to change any of the numbers, let me know and I will edit the file. Also, I found that if you make the tiny outside edges of each block a different color, it added a pretty variation.

I changed the color to yellow on the small bit at each corner. New fabric requirements with the borders mentioned above are:

Yellow 2 1/8 yards
Dark Blue 5 3/8 yards
Light Blue 4 3/8 yards
Background 7 3/8

Thanks, Barb. Those look wonderful. That programme sure must be fun to play with.
That's a lot of fabric. Close to $200.00 just for the top at $8.00 a yard. Maybe have to go on the back burner for now. I'll have to save my pennies.

IMHO, 13 yards for the background is a lot of fabric!
