I don't know about all Joann's but mine carries a magazine called Fabric Fusion. It costs 2-3 dollars, but has 6 coupons on it. 2 50% off and 4 40% off and they are good through Mid January. Depending on what you are buying, they are well worth the price. You have to ask for them as you check out. Check it out!!!

I didn't need anything (G A S P ) but took a friend who is new to quilting. She bought a new cutting mat, ruler and rotary cutter, thread, new scissors, heat -n- bond and fabric for a wall hanging she has been wanting to do. Coupons and discount card saved her over $25....and we started her wall hanging when we got back home. She let me know later in the evening that she finished all 9 blocks....applique' if I might add. Another one hooked!!!

I may go tomorrow after work to get some green fat quarters for my GFG quilt. Mostly because I'm down that way, I got pair Friday, and the thrift store (where I work) is closing early for labor day. I hope there's some left, but who knows, I may pick up something else while I'm there

scottrell 09-04-2011 06:25 AM

Love the flying geese ruler. I got a Fons and Porter one. I too have not found any fabric at joanne's for a while. I get most of my fabric on line now.

oldcatlady 09-04-2011 06:48 AM

I bought a lot of flannel at 50% off-hard to do when it's 95 out but I will be glad when winter comes :). I also found some nice quilting fabric in the red tag section and bought LOTS of batik FQ for the international fabric swap. I was thinking about the swivel cutting mat but decided against it. I wanted to buy some rotary blades but can never remember what size my cutter is when I'm at the store :) need to be more organized when I go shopping!!!

vkearson 09-04-2011 06:52 AM

I made quilts for my brother and sisters last Christmas, and kept enough of the material to make matching pillow and pillowcases, so I bought two of their 5 pound boxes of stuffing for 40% off plus my 15% teacher discount. If any of you are teachers, register for the 15% discount card. It counts on top of everything else. All you need is your ID.

meemersmom 09-04-2011 06:53 AM

I got two bolts of Kona cotton -- one black and one white -- that I use as backgrounds for the charity kids quilts I've been making (working on a D9P today), so lime green for an accent flange, and 4 really good stripes from the red tag area to use as bindings. Don't know why, but I really like to see stripes on a binding. The extra 10% off was nice. With my other coupons, I spent less than $50. Which is a good thing, because I over did it just a little at the anniversary sale of my new favorite LQS...they had FQs for $1.25 a piece, and yardage of sale items at 30% off. Let's just say I used my fun money budget for the next two months!!

IdahoSandy 09-04-2011 06:57 AM

I am going to get 1/4 yards of pink, blue, green, yellow and orange for a special quilt project since I am a scrappy person. I might even buy that flying geese ruler.

Had fat quarter bundles for 4.99. I found some really pretty fall fabric.

vondae 09-04-2011 07:09 AM

Went yesterday and got several notions and a 2 1/2 binding ruler. I am new to this quilting so I need ALOT of stuff. I try to get one 1 or 2 things with each new mailer. Love those coupons. Only way I can afford to do it. Happy Shopping!!

quiltingnana59 09-04-2011 07:58 AM

Went to new JoAnn's in Rockwall Friday with a quilting buddy. I bought FQ's @ 99 cents each for a " purple" quilt I 'm making for Christmas present. Also got some 50% off notions. This with my extra 20% off made it a pretty good deal. I had to limit myself!

Hi, everyone,
I was at the Joann's Store in El Cajon, near San Diego, Ca. and I caught one of the employees taking stuff off the shelf's before the sale started, in particular the more expensive quilting books.
I watched her go to the quilting supplies area, and she did the same thing in that department, I confronted her, a person I know at that store, and she came right and said, well Nancy some things joann's cannot afford to put on sale. !
So the sale is only a sale on things that they want to get out of the store.... ? I think so.

pal 09-04-2011 08:33 AM

I went yesterday, the store was just about empty of customers. Everything that I bought was 30% off already.
I bought 10 yards of felt(for the Marine Corp stockings) for 40% off. So I could not use the coupon. But I did use the 20% off total coupon, so I did save.

That store is beginning to get me down - but it's the only game in town.

sandy l 09-04-2011 08:58 AM

Gutterman thread, fat qtrs, machine needles, and stocked up on white and ivory for d9p. all on sale, plus 10% off total, so not so bad a deal

marymay 09-04-2011 09:03 AM

Damage to my check book Thursday $80.56,Saturday $32.56 and Sunday $59.56 Saving total 164.88 Used every coupon 3 times. I DID GREAT I THINK.

Mgrubbs 09-04-2011 09:19 AM

Watch the dates on coupons (printed ones ) only the 20% still in date!!

Me, too. I get discouraged at the "look" of a store and do not go back until it's back in order; hate to see lots of bare shelving; just a quirk of mine, I guess. Also don't like the "going out of business" sales.

Here's a tip for the Red Tag/clearance shoppers...if you go late in the day, check the restock bins at the cutting counter. That's where all the good stuff can be found. It appears that the ladies are so busy, they don't have time to put it back on the clearance racks.

Wow, that's good hint! I've seen bolts of fabric near the cutting counter, but have been too shy to ask to look through them.

Alberta Austin 09-04-2011 10:02 AM

Just a note. Joanns takes Hancock coupons and vise versa. At least in our area. Might be company policy, but ask.

carla m 09-04-2011 10:22 AM

i went yesterday too i needed some browns its not my favorite color but am making a quilt for someone else as a gift and i think she like earth tones was going to mix in some fall colors but they didnt have much of those so i got the browns and picked up a little more fabric to do a quilt repair with all the fabric was on sale like 25 % off. i was looking for some computer fabric on sale but it wasnt on sale when i got there although it was on line and said the sale was in store also but they only had 1 pkg i needed at least 3 so i got something different instead and forgot my coupons at home so didnt get anything off on it. home is 50 miles i remembered the coupons half way so it wasnt worth turning around for. i think i have a little fall fabric in my stash i can throw in with what i bought and make a really decent with, so not a total loss.

I never got my Joann's circular so had no coupons and no idea what was on sale. Our post office seems to be fooling around, never got a Visa bill this month either and mail is now delivered about 4 p.m. Sounds like you all had a great time at Joann's!

QuilterToo 09-04-2011 11:00 AM

Packaged bamboo queen size batting was $14.00 and 10 percent off.

Vicki, what is the special magazine for sale that has coupons in it? Thanks, Lucy

Finally bought an Accuquilt GO for $199 & got the only one on the shelf. The $199 was the same as the lowest E-Bay price & I could bring it right home! Also bought a quilting book & some fat quarter for my stash.

it usually on a stand on the cutting counter or near the patterns. it is only about 4 or 5 pages thick. coupons on on the back. they limit us to 3 . if you don't see them, ask the cutting counter girls, i discovered they had a stack of them under the counter.

baglady65 09-04-2011 12:01 PM

Notion wall 50% off good time to stock up on machine needles!

I never received my flyer either and am not happy about it. Sorry, just thought I would vent.

dlf0122quilting 09-04-2011 01:03 PM

I badly needed some stabilizers for my art quilts and it was all 50% off so loaded up. I do not need any fabric because I work in a quilt shop and I buy from my boss. She did not have the stablilzer I needed so I do not feel the guilt of buying at JoAnn's for that.

Honeynga 09-04-2011 01:07 PM

I went to Joann's on Sat on my way into Atlanta; couldn't really focus because store is in state of remodeling and it was hard to find stuff....bought a whopping $5 worth.....had read that Hancocks had a 60% off weekend sale and since I was going into ATL and would fairly near a Hancocks I decided to hold off. Went to Hancocks and was most disappointed.....sale was 60% off on Sunday and Monday ! My intown schedule wasn't going to allow me to go back on Sun.....

However, the store was very well organized, well lit and seemed to be well stocked....I just can't buy unless it is on sale at a substantial discount.....

But I got a new mat to replace the one I warped- it was the last one. Also got Eleanor Burns flying geese ruler. MSQC just did a new tutorial using them.

I was surprised that I didn't see much else but that's okay. Just wondering what the rest of you thought of the sale.

Have a great day, friends :D
Sue

I also saw that tutorial and bought the ruler. Hope it works like the video shows!

AnnT 09-04-2011 01:38 PM

I hope to be able to get there tomorrow. I need some batting and I can wander in a fabric store for a very long time, just looking, thinking and planning. I can do the same thing on-line but at least at the store I get a bit of exercise! LOL

nhnative 09-04-2011 01:45 PM

I went on Saturday and got 1 5/8/yds of fusible fleece for Bow Tucks Purses and found the book Redwork with a Twist. Also some black and white thread. That was it.

Daisygirl 09-04-2011 02:27 PM

I went today and they had a power outage so I couldn't shop, but everyone that was waiting to get checked couldn't. I left before it got ugly, they were pretty mad.

G'ma Kay 09-04-2011 03:21 PM

I guess not, I spent less than $150.

ShabbyTabby 09-04-2011 03:26 PM

I shopped online and got 3 two yd. pieces of material for $3.99 a yd (was reg. 7.99) and a king sized warm and natural batting. I don't make quilts that big but with 50% off it was only $20 and I can get at least 2 throws and 2 baby quilts out of it...so I'm happy

pflum1 09-04-2011 04:58 PM

If anyone needs an Accuquilt "Go", they had them on sale for $199. That is a lot less than I gave for mine. Now if they will run the dies on sale again for 25% off that may be a good buy. The dies are just to expenses.

jojosnana 09-04-2011 05:57 PM

50% off notions.......

CarrieAnne 09-04-2011 06:05 PM

I got a bunch of flannel for backings, it was I think 2.99?! a yard.
