You can improve your skills by making a few adjustments :-D :-D :-D :-D

1. When hoilding a ruler always have part of your hand on the mat
Not all on the ruler because it will cause slippage

2. Use a Spock hand position which is a wide spread between middle finger and ring finger and use the heel of your hand should be tighly placed on your ruler.

3. When using a 24 inch ruler place your hand on a spock position on the bottom half of the ruler. Cut 1/2 way and then move your hand upwards but the rotary cutter anchored where you left off . Use caution not to move fabric .

4. If you are using a 12 1/2 inch square up ruler. Put the heel of your hand and thumb resting on the bottom part of your ruler. Curt 1/2 way and repositon your hand and leave rotary cutter anchored. Move your hand up and position your #4 and #5 finger against the top of the ruler.

#####Always keep your hand flat on the ruler and cutting mat.

Okay now let's get better at cutting.

I went to a class and the instructor verbalized these tips and I jotted them down. Hope this helps some of you that have been commenting about inaccurate cutting.

happy Quilting!!!!!

I'd add:

Start just a tad up from the corner of the ruler, cut back toward the corner, but not past it, then go forward with the rotary cutter. This prevents nicking of the corners of the rulers.
