Finished Piecing First Quilt Top

3 Attachment(s)
This is my first attempt at piecing a quilt top. It is the Diamond Log Cabin Star. After starting it, I was fairly new to the board and decided that it was a rather ambitious first project but after auditioning several fabrics, switching back and forth and much angst, this is the finished project with accompanying pictures, I hope. Thanks for looking at my quilt top.

Fraew 05-25-2012 12:34 PM

Yes that's ambitious! But wow, you did it...nicely I might add.

krysti 05-25-2012 12:34 PM

Looks great to me! I am still too scared to try something like this; kudos to you!

Arleners 05-25-2012 12:35 PM

It sure is ambitious for the first try, but it came out beautiful. Pat yourself on the back. I love the colors

Anael 05-25-2012 12:44 PM

I would be very proud of myself if I would make one like yours and it would not be my first! You did a wonderful job and I love the colors you used.

momto5 05-25-2012 04:17 PM

Wow! Awesome quilt!

Threadbanger 05-25-2012 04:49 PM

Good job! Sometimes the good thing about being a newbie is that you don't know what is supposed to be difficult so you attempt it without fear or hesitation. Keep up the good work!

Chicca 05-25-2012 05:35 PM

Yes, I am VERY proud of her. Here are some more pictures that she was unable to post. I think she did a wonderful job of selecting fabrics, and although she's a new quilter it's pretty evident that she knows her way around a sewing machine. She even made the pieced corners, and made them beautifully.

tezell0801 05-25-2012 06:23 PM

Wow, 1st? AWESOME! I am working on my first one now, but not quite that challenging. Great job!

leggz48 05-25-2012 09:47 PM

Woohoo! You Go Girl! Fantastic job for a first attempt and YES, I would agree 'ambitious'. Lovely. Now on to the sandwich and quilting. Be sure to post when Done.

Painiacs 05-25-2012 09:54 PM

Congratulations what a great job!!! Beautiful colors!!

I really appreciate all the encouragement. That is why I so enjoy this board. I had watched F & P last November and saw the Ozark Table Topper. I thought I THINK I could do one of those for my SS ladies. So 24 toppers later, I decided to try and make a top. Saw this pattern, loved it, purchased it and started out. I had never heard of a Y seam although I have now. I have sewn for most of my life but it was for clothing and patching and I started on a treadle machine, but I am not THAT old! We were poor and that's what we had. I want to say that Dunster answered my questions and I had a few. Her customer service was AMAZING. I can see why people get hooked, and yes I am. I have 5 more projects waiting. See material, love material, buy material, no more sleep!

Good job. You are off to a great start . . . keep on going.

jeanharville 05-27-2012 05:14 PM

Your seams and points are perfect. I'm amazed at the 3-D illusion you achieved. I don't know what to say except magnificent and keep up the good work.

Scrap41 05-27-2012 05:25 PM

You did a great job on your "first" quilt. I think most of us would have started with a
more simple quilt, but that is not a requirement either. Keep up the good work and
can't wait to see more of your work.

Taughtby Grandma 05-28-2012 04:44 PM

For your first quilt top this one is great!! Way to start off, you can be proud.
