I don't see mistakes - only a work of love and friendship. The light blue and dark blue borders would provide a nice frame for the quilt. If you want it to conclude busy, then you could add a blue thin border and follow it with a piano key border. That would work but make it much busier looking.

It shows a lot of love going into this project.

I like the creativity and it is a lovely quilt.
