fiquring last border

Please help. trying to finish a quilt for my daughter. this has been a long painful process due to injury and 3 surgeries. Still doctoring. Anyway dow to my last border. Have put side borders on. The width is a perfect 100 inches the length is 961/2 inches. How wide would I have to cut this lasr 2 peices of border to get 100 inches including seam.
Thnk you,
Judy

So, you need finished sizey 3 1/2" of border add 1/2" for seam allowance so 4" would bring your 96 1/2" up to 100"

Oops, just realized you want 2 not one border... So, you still need the 3 1/2" total, split in half is 1 3/4" add 1/2" seam allowance to that each border would be cut 2 1/4"

I am not sure I understand but if you want to add another border to bring the 96.5" side up to 100", you need to add 2.25" strip on both sides. You could make them a little wider because you can always cut it down to the perfect size. It would be a lot easier to give advice if you had posted a photo. Good Luck.

In case you want a second opinion :o I calculated it a bit differently, you need 3.5", with two seams, which add 1", for a total of 4.5", which you need to divide by 2. I get the same number as ckcowl, or 2.25". Yay!!!!!

sounds very skinny for borders. perhaps you could just put a border on the bottom the width/depth required. none on the top.
