My husband has wanted a shed and I've always wanted a barn quilt. So we finally came to a compromise.

That is so beautiful, could you send him up to Canada. What is the size of your block? Any special treatment of wood before and after painting

Doggramma 06-01-2015 01:49 PM

Very pretty swoon block. I love it!

YC Quilter 06-01-2015 01:54 PM

Love it! What did you use for wood?

dunster 06-01-2015 02:39 PM

That is probably the prettiest barn quilt I've seen. And what I can see of the shed is wonderful as well.

joyce888 06-01-2015 02:44 PM

Very pretty!

meyert 06-01-2015 03:31 PM

I love it! I have been thinking about one for my pole barn in my yard.... that one would look good on it!! :)

Grandma Bonnie 06-01-2015 04:30 PM

Beautiful barn quilt block and I also love the shed! It's all wonderful!

Quiltngolfer 06-02-2015 04:43 AM

It's awesome! I always love seeing them when I travel. It gives me a warm feeling about those who live there. I'm happy for you. My daughter made 6 of them for me one Christmas. They are seasonal and I hang one on the front of my garage every two months.

psychonurse 06-02-2015 05:19 AM

Beautiful both the quilt and barn. !!!

I love the idea of hanging it on the garage!

I am going on a tour of barn quilts in Indiana on Thursday. Maybe your quilt will be on the tour.

JeannieT 06-03-2015 03:08 AM

I love seeing these barn quilts. I see them when I am driving back to St Louis and love looking at them. Great job!!

2manyhobbies 06-03-2015 04:08 AM

Gorgeous. I want a barn quilt, too, but I'm going to use differently. I bought a 30x30 fire pit that looks like a table. For summer I want to put a table top on it, and I thought, "why not a barn quilt"? We'll see how far I get on that idea.

Love it. We did something similar, only I painted the doors of the shed. Yours is beautiful, a great compromise with DH.

We have a cottage in Calhoun County IL and there are many barn quilts here. I haven't put one on our cottage yet as we are still working on the inside, but by next year, I'm hoping we will have a beauty like yours. Lovely quilt block.

janjj 06-03-2015 06:01 AM

I received a barn quilt from my children for Christmas. I put it on my large shed in the peak but too high so when the leaves are on the trees you can't see it clearly. It is a photo of a quilt square put on vinyl and then on stainless steel. It is VERY BEAUTIFUL. When I learn how to put a photo on here I will

Noiseynana 06-03-2015 07:30 AM

All I can say is WOW !!!!

Jingle 06-03-2015 07:52 AM

Wow! You did a great job (and nice shed too!). OK--makes me want to get going on mine--only need the paint--even have the primer--but just stalled out last Fall!

grammyj 06-05-2015 03:07 PM

That's like the one I painted and hung on front of my building that my quilting machines are in. It's on my avatar picture. Mine is red white and blue.

Veinurse 06-05-2015 07:58 PM

I have a real barn! I have been talking about a barn quilt all winter. I have it figured out to get 4 pieces of plywood, all squares and then do 1/4 of the pattern on each. I love yours but you put a lot of time into it. I'm not sure I could do that. You have me thinking! Thank you for sharing!

The quilters in Franklin County, KS have organized and started barn quilt tour. So we had the organizer present at a Guild meeting(we are the neighboring county) to talk about it. She suggest if doing a large one to do in sections like you plan. And to be sure to use 2x4 to build a support frame to hold the plywood flat & straight on the barn. One thing she also said which surprised me was to not put a sealer over the paint cause it creates problem when you go to re-paint. You can Google their website--pretty neat.
