First experience 505 and a question, please.
Yesterday I spray basted the top and was in love. Today I basted the back to the top and batting and did not have the great luck I had yesterday. I used striped backing:eek: I knew ahead of time that was not the best choice but something possessed me to drop it anyway.
Well around to the question.... Can I iron the sandwich after using 505? I have worked all the jiggers that I can out by hand. Many thanks! |
Yes you can - that is what I used to do prior to getting my longarm

You should be able to realign the quilt and use a few pins where the basting spray isn't adhering.

I wouldn't iron it if you used polyester batt as it can melt with a hot iron. I have never ironed with 505, since you can reposition it I would try peeling back one half and work the wrinkles out from the center. Once that half was done I would do the same on the second half.

I always iron mine after I get it all together. I use quilters dream batting, and I've never had a problem. Isn't that stuff wonderful? I'm glad you discovered it too. It will save a lot of time and backache.

I usually do as Tartan suggests and just peel back and reposition any areas that don't seem smooth with good results. However when I first started using spray baste I did iron when I used cotton batting and did get a really flat, smooth sandwich and had no problems with it at all. Just don't seem to need the extra ironing step now.
