OMG - This has been a real piece of work! It is for a charity event next month. Not exactly square due to "issues" I had with it. I'd chuck it in the round bin, only I really like the way it turned out otherwise. Hopefully nobody will notice
Love the way it looks...just gave me alot of grief! My own pattern using scraps that I had. I wanted the Cardinal blocks to look like windows, so I put a thin border around each block. I like the way it turned out, although the border caused all the issues. Too thick at the corners, so I trimmed them....and you guessed it....I cut into the block in a couple places! Yikes   :? It's not complete yet though, needs quilting and border (matches the red print). Anyway, I have a question for you all. As it is a wallhanging, do you need to put something on the back to hang it up? And how would I do that? Cardinal Windows Quilt |
Well, I haven't done any wall hangings, but I wanted to say, That is awesome!!!
Now, onto your question, I googled it and I came up with this site below. http://www.how-to-quilt.com/articles...g-sleeve.shtml It's called a sleeve, and you attach it, so you can attach it to the wall ;) |
I think it's very pretty!

Its gorgeous!!
You can just cut to 4 inch squares fold them over on the diagonal and stitch onto the top two corners, along the binding edge then wrap binding over the top as usual. you can then slip a length of dowelling into the pockets like this, if its small you only need to add one across the top :D |
Great job! Very pretty!

It turned out beautifully! Great design. Give yourself a hand!

Beautiful!! You did a wonderful job. Sometimes the ones that really drive us crazy are the ones we appreciate the most (at least I do - if it went together quick, fast and in a hurry, I don't think about it again)

In my opinion, you do not HAVE to put a hanging sleeve on it. I have a board that hubby made me that has clothes pins on a wire. Half of it can be seen in this shot.

Anne - what a clever husband you have...

Thanks Cindy. He made me a quilt rack too.

Don't give up, get in a class and get some help. You did a great job all by yourself so you know with a few classes you are on your way to many new and exciting days of quilting.
The hanging sleeve can be made several ways, as others have mentioned or I cut a muslin or matching backing fabric the width of the quilt at 4 1/2"wide. Fold the two short ends by folding in 1/4" twice and sew along the edge so there are no raw edges on the ends. Now fold lengthwise right sides together and sew 1/4" seam. Turn and hand sew along both the top and bottom just bellow the binding of the wall hanging making sure you center it. You can use a dowel rod or a yardstick to hang. Any questions feel free to ask, we all love to help each other. Bernadette |

Love it! Beautiful fabrics!!!!!

Beautiful.

I use decorative clips that you can get in the department store with the curtain rods. There are usually 8 to a package and they look a lot the ones you use on shower curtains except there is a clip on it.
I put sleeves on all my quilts in case whoever I give it to wants to hang it up. It is not hard to do. Even if I am going to hang it with clips I put a sleeve on it. Sybil |
I never done a Wallhanging, but yours sure is beautiful.
|
I hope this isn't your last wall hanging! I think you have a great eye for proportion! That turned out beautiful!

Thanks for the info and nice pic. I made a Christmas wall hanging years ago that had tabs at the top for hanging on a dec. rod. I didn't like the way that it hung, so I just put it aside in the Christmas decorations and never used it again. I WILL remove the tabs and replace them with the little triangles on the back. Thanks again.

Boston, love that landscape and the wire idea. Here in humid FL, it wouldn't work - even coated wire does not hold up for clotheslines.

Very nice.
