I recently received my first walking foot and my first FMQ foot for my sewing machine. I had plans to do lots of trials before quilting with it, but I couldn't stand it any longer and just attached the walking foot. I am working on a baby quilt I have to have finished and shipped by the 12th of this month that I just got sandwiched yesterday. Is it safe to just use it like a regular foot (I know it doesn't stitch backward)?
I could like try it on the frame of this panel? Or should I wait for DH to wake so I can rattle bags near where he's now sleeping? |
Try it on a practice square? Good luck and have fun.

yes, you can use it like a regular foot.

Thank you! I'm putting something together right now to try it out on. I busied myself cleaning out the area beside my chair this morning until DH got up. Now I have full access to all my sewing "stuff". LOL!

My walking foot goes backward. I wouldn't attempt to not using it on the sandwiched quilt.

My walking foot stitches backwards, too.
I'd make a practice square first and at least try a couple of pivots and such just to get the feel of it. If your practice square makes you happy, go for it!! |
I made a table topper yesterday to try my new feet on and it came out pretty good! I made two birds on the main part & they came out awesome except I forgot in my excitement to change to a coordinating thread color, so you can't see them. I'm so disgusted with myself! Anyway, it's poinsettias on one side and sunflowers on the other with the brail doves. (you can feel them, just not see them on either side).
