I am currently working on a wallhanging from American Patchwork and Quilting called Stitcher's Studio. Here is a link to the project:

I'm not sure about the foundation pieced sewing machine. I think it is cute but for the receipient of this piece I don't think she will care for it. I would like to do an applique of a more stylized sewing machine. I think it will fit her aesthetic more. This is the image I am thinking about:

I know that I need to make it a little bit simpler (less curvy for a beginner) but I'm not sure how to go about doing that or it it is possible or even a good idea. I am thinking about doing it in a small dark calico print or a very dark purple solid. Or maybe just black.

The blocks are 6.5" (I believe). How do I figure out how much to enlarge the image? Also, please tell me anything else that I need to know.

if you are using fusible you can make your pattern just like that, as far as size to enlarge????? trial and error is the best i can say, see what size it is when you print it out then go from there, to save on ink while your figureing it out, you can just trace the outline, that's really all you need anyway

If that one doesn't work for you, try searching for clip art. there was a clip art book published for quilting several years ago. It might still be available. Or look for embroidery designs that would give you the outline.
