My hubby bought me a present today. It is the 24 inch Fiskars ruler/cutter combo. He found it on clearance for $22.00. He thought I needed another toy.
Has anyone used it? I looked up reviews on the internet and it looks promising. I guess I will have to start another project just to try it.

what a thoughtful husband...cant help you with your question though...

Isn't that a great tool? I haven't found anything better for making strips. Quick, easy, accurate.

Too bad Fiskars discontinued it. If you like it and have any extra "mad" money, I'd send him back for another one. They originally retailed for $60, and they're almost impossible to find now.

I have one, have used it quite a bit, especially when I want to be sure my rows are straight. It gives a lot of "coverage" so things don't move.

Good buy too! I got mine a few years ago at $29.95 and have seen them much higher priced.

I have one also and I like it. I put little sandpaper dots in the corners to help keep it from moving on me. And I like that the blade has that big cover and is attached. Less chance of cutting ones finger.

CAn you post a pic. I can't seem to find it online.

quiltluvr 06-28-2009 10:55 AM

Yes, please do post a pic. I haven't seen one either. Anything quilt related on clearance makes me "gotta have it." What a steal of a deal and what a sweet husband to be thinking of you like that. :)

I was just at a Wal-Mart this weekend. If any of you still have a craft dept. in your Wal-Mart they may have them their. The one I was in was in Las Vegas and they are starting to get rid of the fabric dept. This item was there for $22.00. I was able to get a lip ruler and some notions that have been marked down. Now I'm thinking maybe I should have bought one. Are they as good as some of you say?

Tippy 06-28-2009 02:57 PM

They have those here on sale for 21 and change also.

beachlady 06-28-2009 03:09 PM

Have to go check out my Wal-Mart. I have weak hands, and it might make cutting strips easier.

racnquilter 06-29-2009 10:27 AM

I like mine. One tip, when you take blade out to sharpen or replace, make sure you don't tighten screw too tight, will keep blade from turning and then you get "skips" in your cuts.

Thanks for the tip. Honestly, that is something I was worried about. I have a hard enough time changing the blade in a regular cutter.

racnquilter 07-01-2009 11:42 AM

It is a very easy tool to change the blades in...

My walmart is close by, think i will take a ride over and look :D

treasurelady 07-01-2009 06:17 PM

My husband bought that for me last year at WalMart. Why would they discontinue it? I love it because it doesn't slip.

Knot Sew 07-02-2009 06:17 AM

what blade does it take are the refill readily available.
Nothing at my walmart, just paper cutters , the same design but a brittle plastic :D

Ducky 07-02-2009 06:19 AM

Interesting. I haven't seen one of those before except for paper crafts.

owlvamp 02-25-2011 02:23 PM

I have been searching for one just like that. Can you tell me where he bought so I can see if I can get one? Thank you for posting.

gale 02-25-2011 02:28 PM

I have it and love it. The only thing is, it is hard to cut something too narrow because the cutter covers so much of that side of the ruler. Also it's 6.5" wide which totally confuses me when I'm butting rulers to measure wider things, but that's just me. I agree about not turning the screw too tight. I've done that.

to the PP, it takes standard 45mm blades.

bonliene 09-21-2011 05:03 PM

Where did your husband find it? I would like one. Bonnie

BellaBoo 09-21-2011 05:32 PM

This post is over 2 years old. The cutter is no longer being made.
