Flannel Binding?

I am making a t-shirt quilt and used flannel for the border and backing and am thinking of using it for the binding as well ...any suggestions or concerns I should consider?

I've never done it but here are some sites that might give you some information

I used flannel binding on a flannel baby quilt and it worked fine. I didn't have any problems with it.

I think I would cut the binding a little wider than cotton binding because it will be a little bulkier on the fold over. Other than that, go for it!

From my experience, here is one thing to consider. If you think the quilt will get washed often, save some extra yardage in case you need to replace the binding. Years ago, I made a flannel quilt with flannel binding for my youngest son, who was still having bathroom accidents at night. That quilt was washed at least once a week for 3-4 years until we figured out the source of his problem. The binding has worn through the corners and some of the edges; I will have to replace it soon.

Other than that minor issue, I say go for it!

I've used flannel, and will choose to use just quilting cottons from now on!

i've bound many quilts with flannel- not a problem. i do tend to cut my strips 2 1/2" (i cut narrower with regular cottons) other than that i do everything the same- works fine.

I have bound several in flannel with no problems. It is a little bulkier but if you plan for that you will be fine. I like the softness it gives an edge.
