Is it acceptable to use flannel and cotton fabrics in the same quilt top?

yes

Yes, but you probably want to prewash and dry the flannel *twice* before using it with cotton. Flannel can shrink an incredible amount!
|
The only rules are the ones you decide to make because in quilting the only rule is the scant 1/4"..if you even want to call it that. It's more like a suggestion! LOL

Thanks! I'm glad there are no rules, since I have always been one to bend them. I found a cotton print with horses on it and I would like to use flannels with it just because it is for my son and flannels are so warm and cozy.

Yup no rules but the ones you make for yourself, crazy quilts use just about every fabric out there! Velvet, silk, polyester, cotton .... I tend to stick to cotton, but I'm not afraid to use other stuff if I like the look of it. I have even been considering doing some beading on a few quilts!
