Might I suggest fleece?
I tried flannel, but discovered that blocks stick better to fleece. |
I used fleece on an entire wall in my sewing room. Loved it!

The flannel (or felt) is all you need to have your block 'stick'. I made portable walls by using 2 2' x 4' ceiling panels covered in flannel. They were very light and could be stacked on one another and slide under the bed for storage. I used the ceiling tile because I could stick thumbtacks in it with paper patterns.

I am making a simple design wall using cardboard, flannel, duct tape and Contact adhesive strips. I see where a number of people used batting; others used flannel. Will the one layer of flannel be sufficient?
