I made one that is 3 layers of flannel - top, batting, and backing. It's heavy but we like heavy.

I made a flannel top and back quilt and used a Werm and Natural cotton batt. My DH and the boys fight or it. It is the softest, snuggliest thing in the house. I now have to make each of the boys one for their own or I will have to listen to more arguing. ;)

My first quilt was crib size for baby granddaughter. It is flannel front and back with warm and natural batting. Was easy to quilt on a basic mechanical old singer. She is 10 and a half and that quilt is still on her bed and has been washed a gazillion times and she loves it. She is in WA state and she layers it with other blankets in winter.

We live in TN and it would be perfect weight here. I love flannel quilts and they are more often the ones chosen to cuddle under. We love the softness and warm you get with them.

I make lots of flannels quilts- they are my favorite---and I always use batting- often Hobbs Heirloom 80/20, sometimes some other cotton batting- when it's a special quilt for a special person I splurge & use hobbs or Dream Wool. I love my flannel quilts to be soft, fluffy/lofty and cozy!

Is it a rag quilt? I use 3 layers of flannel in my rag quilts. That means more fabric to rag, and also I don't have to sew those x's through the blocks to keep the batting from shifting.

I live in Phoenix, AZ and use mine all Fall through Spring.

I made some for my kids who live in Washington state. They have poly batting, nice quilts. The only problems I had making them was the larger amount of lint, both when piecing and when quilting.

I use 3 layers of flannel .. gives it a fuller rag-i-ness to it..

I just made my first rag quilt, and used a thin batting in each of the blocks (Pellon Nature's Touch). Even though we live in nice, warm, sunny (most of the time) Southern California, it is the perfect weight for cuddling on the couch with. http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...t-t235900.html
