Flannel Selvages?

Has anyone made anything from flannel selvages? If so did you paper piece it?

I was thinking of making an iPad case.

Thanks,
Ginger

So I’m guessing no one has done this. Bummer! I was hoping for insight.

there are a few of us here that do a lot of work with selvedges. But I've never had access to flannel ones as I don't use flannel for anything. I'd love a bin full to play with, the potential is wonderful! Do they even look like quilters cotton selvedges, somewhere in my mind I picturing the color going edge to edge.

I have used them in crumb blocks mixed with cotton. I have also used bits of flannel shirts in my crumb blocks, doesn't affect the block for me and gives it additional texture. The pieces are little of course. I've also used pieces of flannel in string block quilts-I like selvages with writing, also gives more depth to the block. Some people would disagree- but each to their own......nobody that receives my quilts complains.

My selvages have writing on them. I trim selvages at 1 1/2” so I also have the color from the fabric.

Now to create something once I finish the quilt I’m working on.

Thanks!!
