Flannel to use as quilt blocks

I was given a piece of 36" wide flannel that was marked "not for use with children's sleepwear". I am wondering if I can cut it into blocks and use it with cotton fabric to make a quilt for a nursing home patient.

Fabric for children's sleepwear has to be flame retardant. Almost all quilting fabric is labeled "not for use with children's sleepwear". I assume the nursing home resident is not a child and you aren't making pajamas.

No, I am making a lap throw. Would it be OK to use the flannel as quilt blocks.

YES, it would be ok.

yes, it is fine. wash it first as it shrinks a bit!

Agree with others, no problem for a nursing home patient.

However, you may want to check with the nursing home first, as some have specific requirements regarding quilts and such. Better to know first, than to find out later that it cannot be used.

You might want to use wider seam allowances than the usual 1/4". Flannel can fray out, so I'd use 1/2" seams.

Could I also make a baby quilt with the flannel blocks

Be aware though, flannel shrinks quite a bit.

It should be fine even for a baby quilt. It wouldn't be in the crib & would be soft for a tummy time quilt.
