I want to add another design wall to my room " I currently have one that is wraped with fleece. I have been reading up on different design walls and several people use cotton batting and others are using cotton backed table cloths. what are your opinions on this subject. which works best for you? I think that while I am at it " I will create a small design board for carrying back and fourth to my sewing machine with me to use for block pieces when I am sewing them to gether so that I don't have to get up and down fifty times. look forward to your answers.

Have and idea for a small board for you. Get a hanging ceiling tile and cover it with batting and flannel. Its light weight and you can cut the tile to the size you want. Need to give credit to Joan for the seed that helped me come up with this.
Years ago I took a landscape class with Joan Statz creator and owner of "Joan's Own Creations". We made our own pressing boards. I have a very small sewing room and used the same idea to make a design board. Works well for me.

I've used a flannel sheet, a flannel-backed vinyl table cloth, and W&N batting for design walls. The W&N works best by far. Blocks and fabric stick to it like it's velcro.

I have headliner fabric on my design wall. It works very well too. Just depends on how much you want to spend!

i purchased 108" wide flannel from fabric.com and used that to cover 4' x 8' sheets of foam board- then used double sided tape to stick them to the wall- flannel works well, and if i have something that is too heavy to stay up the 1" thick foam board makes it easy to just stick a pin in-to hold it in place.

We have a SAS fabric [?outlet] store here. My Friend bought felt because it was the cheapest and it works.

I used batting on my design wall years ago. It has been hard to vacuum off all the threads, so it is somewhat colorful.

I have felt covering my design wall. It works great and doesn't fuzz up like I've seen batting design walls - one of the quilt shops I used to go to has batting on the walls for design walls and it looks uh, well used...
