That's the way I learned to join hexies from the old Workbasket magazines my grandmother use to have. Those magazines had no color pictures, line drawings, and very small print. So much info was put in each article. One magazine would be stretched to make a year's subscription now.

I try to use something fine. It seems to make it easier to keep the stitches invisible. I normally use Aurifil 50 weight.

This post has been a revelation!! I immediately watched the video and can't wait to try it. My whip stitch is okay but this looks so much better. Thank you!!!!!!!

This is a very interesting thread. I do use a whip stitch when I EPP and the thread I use is a 60wt / 2 ply Bottom Line or a 80wt / 2 ply Wonderfil. I'm going to check out the flat back stitch on Youtube. I added a picture of my latest EPP project.
