I have a fleece panel that I am using for a surprise quilt for hubby.
Anyway the measurement of the panel is 48x61. I am thinking of making it longer, but I am not sure how to do it. Essentially, I am looking at making it about 8 inches longer. Won't it look odd to add fleece to the top and bottom of the panel and not the sides. Any ideas out there. Thanks in advance denise |
Maybe you can add 4 inches to the top and to the bottom. So it won't look odd.
Don't mind me...guess I can't read today. LOL |
LOL... Guess you answered my question. :)

I have seen this done. The fleece blanket I saw had 4" added to top and bottom. Then a solid colored fleece, the full length of the panel + 8", was sewn, right sides together, leaving a slit at the bottom. Them turn inside out. Sew up the slit and top stitch about 1 1/2" from the edge all around the whole thing. It looked great and made it long enough for a guy.

For an interesting look, you could add a border at the bottom and top, making the seam 1-1/2" on the RIGHT side, then "rag" it at the seam like you would a rag quilt. It would be even more interesting if you added sides the same width and ragged them as well. Would make the borders stand out and add flair.

The blankets I've seen were not quilted, They only had top stitching 1 1/2" from the edge. My granddaughter has one and is wrapped up in it every morning. She loves it.
