I wonder why the fabric manufacturers are not making the beautiful florals they were making 3 or 4 years ago? Everything seems to be so dark . I still have some in my stash !!!

You and me both, I look all the time for beautiful florals, I love the perinnials by Bernatex. Haven't gotten them yet. You can see them on Eleanor Burns website.

I guess it is all about trends, in fashion and fabrics. I like the brighter cleaner colors. One thing for certain if I need a certain color I can dye it myself or ask the board and someone will have just what I need:)

I wish I knew. I am trying to collect florals for one of the log cabin runners I have seen here on the board. I is slow going, but I have found some. I thinks it's all about fashion trends.

Fabric styles definitely go in cycles. I remember there was several years where decent blending yellows were hard to come by; now they are much more available. For a while there was no pretty cloud/blue sky choice; that passed. Reproductions have been big in the Hancocks of Paducah catalog until this past issue where they were down to a couple or three pages.
Hang in there......it'll all come around again. :-) Jan in VA |
Fashions come and go, the same as colors. That's why we have stashes, and friends on the board to swap when we need something that is out of style!

All those very pale florals are not missed by me. The so called "blended" quilts never spoke to me. I love contrast and bright flowers, bright anything. Nothing wrong with pastels by I want contrast so the pattern of the piecing shows up.

Hmmm ... I'm seeing lots of new florals at my shop. Please don't ask me names/manufacturers - I rarely look at bolt ends.

I agree I used to like the florals and now I don't see too many that i do like.

This is the way we are able to date our quilts when we find the vintage ones. Different eras for different fabrics I suppose but I do love my bright happy colors and yes I love the florals too!!
