Florals for a baby quilt?
Hey all,
I am wondering if it is considered appropriate to use florals in a baby quilt? Should they be "nursery" fabrics? These will be donations. Thank you! |
Babies like shapes and designs of anything to look at. I would say go for it!!
|
I have baby sit many children and they love to pick flowers out of my garden and to use the garden hose. LOL!
|
Oooh. Thanks! Didn't think of that. I was just looking at the more "modern" baby quilt and it seems like florals are "in". Thanks again.
|
If they're bright and bold, maybe, but not old calicos or pastels, as those are "out." Most modern moms want things that go with their nursery theme or colors. Since these are for donation, you can't be room-specific, but it's safer to go with animals, dots, Disney themes, construction, sports, etc. I would look on Etsy if you want inspiration for modern baby quilt fabrics.

Personal opinion, Include some bright/high contrast polka dots and I think that the baby quilt will be well loved.

I have seen bright colors in baby quilts, but I think where you donate them might have some rules to follow. So it would depend upon what is accepted by them. Children are less fussy, and love color, animals, and I Spy quilts. I admire all those quilters who donate their work to a worthy charity; especially if its for children and seniors.

I love floral baby quilts! I've seen them and they are adorable.

Yes! Thank you all. I didn't think to ask what they will accept. Thanks again.

I made a lap quilt once in pastel florals, and it was beautiful! I also made a baby quilt for my niece in pastels, which was very, very pretty, and it included some florals. I don't have pics---it was several years ago and both were given away.
