I finally "got" the math for the no-waste method.

The "geese" end up being quarter square triangles (hence the 1-1/4 inch addition to the finished size for the "big" square)

and the "sky" pieces end up being half square triangles (therefore the 7/8 inch addition to the finished size for the little squares)

I am always elated when I get one of these "aha" moments!

I recently got the Easy Angle and Companion Angle rulers and REALLY like using that method. It is no a no waste approach.

I just learned the no waste method and I love it.

I also just learned the no waste method and like it. However I do a lot with scraps and sometimes don't have large enough peices to do it, then I love my Easy Angle and Companion Angle rulers. For tiny geese, i like to trim them up, but for larger the Rulers can usually get me something I don't need to trim.

I like the no waste method. If I have to use a rectangle and 2 square method, I sew the left over triangles together and keep them in a zip lock bag. I keep thinking someday I will find the right place for them too.

this is great info! has anyone used the accuquilt die to make flying geese?
