I recently bought a couple sets of the Eleanor Burns Flying Geese rulers and used them for the first time today. Just wanted to say that they worked really great for me. My geese are perfect and believe me I had a real problem with making accurate flying geese prior to buying these rulers. I made a Christmas Quilt and put a border with flying geese in this quilt and they were so out of wack that I can't even quilt this top now. Am going to make it a table cloth. I thought my geese were really good but boy, did I learn a big lesson and really trying to get my blocks, HST etc more accurate. Anyway, just wanted to share that these rulers work really well and they were not all that expensive. I will have my block for this quilt done soon and will share with ya'll the horse theme quilt I am just starting. Really excited about this project although it will be a slow process as there will be alot of machine embroidery involved. G'Night for now.... :thumbup:

"watterstide" recently answered a post on here that has a 1 seam flying geese video. I think it is fantastic and that is what I am using.

"i have never used them before either..i use the rectangle with 2 squares method.. it is called no waste flying geese..

I'm so glad you made this post. I also recently bought the E.Burns flying geese rulers, but haven't had a chance to use them yet. I was like you with inconsistent results using my old method. Maybe now I will be able to make perfect flying geese too. Thanks!

I am making a Virginia Reel quilt, its very similar to a flying geese block. I started with templates made from the book and then I bought Marti Michelles flying geese ruler and the angles are just different enough that I either start over, after 12 blocks, or continue with my battered templates.
This made me take a second look at my 30 degree triangle rulers. Guess what, they are ALL slightly different. So, Ladies, stick with one ruler throughout each quilt. Oh, by the way, you have to make a triangle with each ruler and stack them to see the differences.

i have these ruler too! I haven't used them yet but i'm glad that they actually work!! Eleanor Burns is wonderful and so are her rulers and books. She makes things so much easier.
