Flynn Multi Frame
I am looking at possibly buying this frame to use with my Babylock Jazz.
Can anyone tell me about it? How does the machine move along the rails as I can't see any handles. Frame is under $200 and seems decent sized. Comments please? Thanks all in advance! |
Lots of previous discussions about this frame (most not good) if you search the forum.

If I have always understood it correctly, you actually move the frame and not the machine. Mkc is right, there don't seem to be many positive thoughts on this setup.

Yes, you move the frame. I had one, talk about a lesson in frustration! I finally gave up and got rid of it.

I have one and have never assembled it. Sounded good at a quilt show demo, but I realized upon viewing the accompanying dvd that the assembly was way beyond me. As others have said, one moves the frame while the machine is stationary.

John Flynn makes it look easy, but it takes a great deal of upper body strength to be able to hold that frame and move it in a controlled way. The space you have to quilt in is also every limited. You could make one out of pvc for a lot less but it isn't the best way of quilting. ( In my opinion)

I would rather move my quilt around under the needle without a big frame around it. I think these Flynn frames were more popular before sit down longarms and education on FMQ were available. Why not go with newer technology?

I used one for years before learning how to free motion on my own. It is like anything else, you have to practice and learn. I got frustrated the first few times but didn't get mad and put it in a closet. I kept on trying and then one day it seemed to click and it was a piece of cake, like learning how to ride a bike. I quilted all my quilts on the JF frame except the very large ones. It's a shame so many give up, it really is a good product.

I have not heard good reviews on this item and it doesn't sound like good reviews from the members here either.
