I have been dying to do FMQ and have tried just a couple of small things and think to myself - OMG how does anyone ever do this?! I recently got a book called Free-Motion Quilting Made Easy by Eva A. Larkin. Now I have to say I haven't actually tried anything yet, but I've read through the directions and I think she explains things very well. She breaks things down into "quadrants" of a small square with very simple shapes that you can put together and make more complicated looking designs. Just reading it makes me feel a lot more comfortable and feel like it's something that I can actually do now. I'm really excited about trying it. Has anyone ever read/used this book?

I think I'll check this book out. Do you know if JoAnns has it? I would like to get started with FM myself. Haven't done it in years and just meandered...

I'm trying to see if the library has this book but can't get on their web site. Guess I'll try later. Thanks for the tip.

I have enjoyed the Patsy Thompson videos.
Anything that will help us is good.
A book is good for a quick reference.
I have been known to use a highlighter

I have the book and have played a bit with the patterns. I personally think that her technique would look great on some quilts, but on others I think I would like a design where the quilting motifs flow across the blocks. I do agree that her explanations are very clear and I'm very happy with the book.
