Jingle, yes you are a help! :)
My stitches are too big for one thing. Another is my thread. I like all the ideas I've gotten, thanks all!

I change colors wherever needed. I believe the final look is worth the effort.

One of the ladies I quilt with showed me what she did last week. She rented long-arm time and quilted all the cream background area, which like your white she could do continuously. Now she is going to hand quilt the dark blue areas. Patricia Drew mentions Invisfil is that the "fishing line"? I used that to quilt a cream and dark red so it doesn't show.

No, Invisifil is a super fine 100 wt thread made by Wonderfil. It sinks down into the fabric and even high contrast barely shows the thread, only the texture of the quilting, unless you are super close. It comes in 60 different colors. https://www.wonderfil.ca/invisafil

I agree with EasyPeezy! I've had success with Invisafil which is 100 wt. It comes in colors, but it really sinks into the fabric. So if you choose a pale grey or taupe, you won't see it.

I've used Invisafil 100 for quilting also. I used the silver color on the background of the Dogs in Sweaters quilt and it barely showed. All you really see is the quilting.
