I just looked at mine and the fusible is the gridded side.

Glad this was asked as I bought the foam cut to fit but found a free embroidery pattern by Skeldale House and she uses iron on interfacing. Will try out the pattern today to see if I like it better than using the regular pattern. For anyone interested in this free pattern you need to sign up for her Yahoo Group as individual emails, not digest and she sends you the website to download her freebies. She also has a Facebook page where some of her freebies can be obtained but she just told us she'll be closing that site down at the end of the year. Will show my wreath hopefully at the end of the day.

I have made close to 100 so far and I really don't like using the foam. It is very difficult to turn rightside out. If you use the foam, it is easier to use the method that has you sew all the way around, cut a slit (you have attached the foam to the 'frontside') and pull it thru. In this version, you need to applique over the slit. I like a heavy interfacing and sew leaving a small opening. I have a hemostat that lets me pull the fabric rightside out very easily. I usually have a bag with me with a lot of squares and whenever I am waiting somewhere, out comes the hemostat and the bone tool and I turn and push. I then topstitch about 1/8" in whether I am using a banded version or a plain solid version.

Directions for this wreath seemed to be harder than I would have guessed. Heavy interfacing is fine, and actually..if you don't have iron on...the idea is to make the square more stiff.

I use Deco-Bond instead of the foam. It works great. I also use heat-n-bond for the appliqué part. Both are a lot cheaper than the foam.

The fusible side looks like tricot. The other side is softer.
Hope this helps.

Some people use regular interfacing but it isn't very sturdy or stable to keep the nice round petals. I like the Peltex because it is stiff and makes nice crisp squares for rounding into the petals. The Bosal also works, and is more puffy and soft but holds the shape well.

I just finished one & did not use the bosal foam. I used the fusible fleece & love it. No Problems.

Many people use the Pellon 71F for stabilizing instead of the bosal.
