Fold and Stitch Wreaths
I am making fold and stitch wreaths and I am having trouble with the opening being big enough for a candle or such. It seems really tight and wondered if anyone else has made them and if you had any issues with this. Thanks for any help.

I all depends on the angle the sections are sewn at. As long as it sits flat on the table when finished, I call it good. You could sit a candle on the middle tips?

Hi & Welcome!
What pattern are you using? Can you open a few stitches in the center circle where the pieces are joined? |
I would un-sew a couple of seams where the units are joined and re-sew with a smaller seam allowance. This should make the middle space a bit bigger each time.

Wow, I tried making one and I have the same issue. It is now a UFO. I will try use wing a little.

So much for auto correct that should be unsewing.

I make dozens of them and sell them online and in a shop. It depends on the size of the wreaths and of the candles. My medium size ones are cut 5 1/2" to finish 5". For these my angle sewing is 2 3/4" to a 3/4". This allows for a 2" opening. For a larger squatty candle, they can sit on the inner edges. Or, if they choose to sit a small glass bowl in the center to hold treats. I often display them with a footed bowl that slides into the opening. I also make a lot of the hexagon ones and they have a very small opening. These are great at Halloween and Christmas with a small item (a standing witch or a small tree) sitting on the inner 'petals'. It is truly a matter of experimenting with your angles. BUT - make sure and take notes, after awhile the numbers will all blend together!
