I started on my Folded Dahlia today and ran into a problem and I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem.
The first row meets the second one perfectly. The second row starts to spread out too far. Meaning the last three six inch squares seem to be too small, the points do not meet up at all. By the fourth row I have an inch of background fabric betwen the two rows. I have ripped it out and resewed it several times with the same results. So,what am I doing wrong? Are my squares too small or what? Help!! |
If the squares are 6 inches, make sure you're folding them right. The first row gets folded into a 1/4 size and the others only get folded in half. Some have been missing that.

Ya lost me. First of all I'm not the brightest bulb in the chandelier.So, by 1/4 you mean just fold it a quarter of the way down and then the rest fold in half?

I have made my first Dahlia using the 6 x 3 method so as not to make it too bulky.
To improve on this method I now intend to use 6 x 4 and then turn over the top 1 Inch for a neater finish. From rows 5 to 7 I intend to try 7 x 4 still turning over 1 inch at the top. The fabric only just meets at the the last point in the one I have just made using all 6 x 3.. I did use a linen fabric in some of my Dahlia (which is a thicker fabric) so it would match my other cushions. Looks fabulous though. Giving a "tute" tomorrow so we Aussie ladies will get our heads together over this one. |
